The linguistic argument is useful, though, surely? Is there a use to having bold and bolder, or even a numeric scale to how LOUD we're trying to be?
To me, the underlying theme is that web is not a visual or audio medium; it should be for everyone. if we're talking linguistics. Emphasis is a subtle tone or inflection, whereas strong is shouting or in your face
