Thank you very much for taking the time to give me a detailed explanation. It is appreciated!

On the next site I build, I'm going to try to embrace a progressive enhancement mindset. I'm in pretty deep on my current project (an ecommerce site) to make the switch on this one. I will, however, make sure the site is fully functional if a user does not have javascript enabled, and I am using session variables.

I bring the baggage of the mindset of a desktop developer with me, and I am still really a newbie at web development. But, I'm not too old to learn new tricks.

Unfortunately for anyone searching through these threads, this thread contains about 3 different threads, but I guess I caused that by asking 3 questions. (Each had important tangents.)
