---- "Bad" Keywords; Do They Damage My Campaigns?

I can imagine this has been asked before, so forgive me if this is all deja vu for you folks.
I have looked it up in the Adwords help files, but with no result so far...

When I use the keyword suggestion tool I sometimes just copy all them keywords to my campaigns. Later on I start refining campaigns to get rid of the junk and to add negative keywords and stuff.

What if I start a campaign about widgets, and in the refining process, I miss a few very bad keywords, cause naughty G suggests all sorts of strange things, like:
- widgets and p&rn
- widgets and dr%gs
- widgets and free s#x

If these nasty keywords would stay in a campaign, are they damaging the operation? You know like, blocking your ads, or giving you less impressions?
