Yeah, I hear you @RhinoFish, and I've thought of arguments like - "look in Google Analytics, these visitors actually click around, spend time on your site, etc." But then we have experiences for example with the Google Search Partner Network where conversions come through that are obviously bogus from really suspect sites after going through the Website logs.
But you are correct, it is going to be a hard argument to win. They are an excellent client though, so it is well worth trying to work through this issue with them.
