Charging you for something you never asked for but have to use since Google invented it, that's ingenious. Of course you don't HAVE to use it but Google knows that if you don't you're letting your competitors look prettier than you which gets them more clicks.
If you're willing to pay this is great news.
If you're not willing to pay you will get even less natural traffic.
Is it time to review what the Google envisioned roadmap of the internet looks like? Probably not, this is a minor change, but SO MANY MINOR CHANGES are really altering the landscape of late.
