I have been advertising on adwords content network for years. It has been on auto-pilot for a while, I thought I knew all I needed to know. But new develpments make me think I am missing something....

The way I thought it worked was the page has to have related keywords in it to show a particular ad.

So if I am on a page about "whales" I get ads about "whales."

Lately I have noticed that I get pages about "whales" when I am on sites/pages that have nothing to do with whales.

Now I am in the "whales" business and I look at a lot of pages about "whales" so it seems to me that google is now showing me ads about whales all the time, no matter where I am, since I have such an interest.

Did they announce this?

How do I start advertising in this same way?
