I think it's going to be a lot more important to use the search suggestions feature for keyword research as this is what Google is going to push towards for the predictive search query.

Google said it takes an average of 9 second per entered query but if the results are changing along the way it's unlikely that people will stop for 3 seconds while typing their query unless Google gets it spot on for them.

If you think about it, the people who take longer to enter their queries might use the predictive search a lot more than the experienced searchers as it could save them quite a bit of time.
