I bet they will do something before that. Pagerank is named after one of the co founders of Google, Larry Page, I don;t think they will dump pagerank all together. The PR number in itself is for entertainment purpose only, I have MYSELF heard this from a Google Guy over the phone. All that matters is links, and they are indeed an important part of the rankings. Now the question boils down, to the link buyers and sellers, what will they do if PR is Scrapped, which I do not beleive 100%, that it will happen. Wait and Watch Guys :)
I think, it's nothing but a wait and watch situation for all of us. This thread could be rendered useless or very useful with just a string from G. We will ask the G engineers in the conference :)
