I'm assuming you're not already getting hits on the article from people searching for widget green little?
I wouldn't make it a separate article. I'd maybe put "widget green little" once in the article on little green widgets, but Google's getting good - they'll find ya anyway.
If it's too competitive, I would absolutely not make an article with the same information. Different article, yes. Organized differently, cheat sheet maybe, or with a different emphasis.
But as a user, I hate it when information is duplicated on the same site, or across sites - I don't have time to wade through pages of non-new information. If it's something I've already seen, I immediately click out of it and assume it's spam. I think search engines recognize those behaviors.
