in my point of view, Google treates the contents by seeing their orignality and offcourse their uniquness. There is a possibility that the pages with Higher positions are having better optimization (keyword frequency, density, anchoring, text formation, proper html validation, etc), one more reason that make some sense, that the pages with higher positions are having quality inbounds.
