One thing I noticed that they don't have any such thing called "sandbox effect".

Yeah, I see this too. Ranking for longtail comes quickly for me. I usually start by optimizing a site for the longtail as a foundation and then focus on the more popular terms after I am well solidified. Worked for me for years.
