Also, Google does a pretty good job with their DID YOU MEAN #*$!#*$!#*$!XX hints to let the user know that they might have spelled the word incorrectly. So I don't lose a lot of sleep over it as far as my content and organic search.

If you rank well and have a good title and description you will get the click regardless of the fact the keyword might have initially been spelt incorrectly.

I have no idea if it is an option for you but one of the best ways to get typo traffic is from content supplied by your visitors, eg. forum posts, user cooments etc.
