Interesting topic. Myself, I've never worried about keywords in relation to the ODP since a huge percentage of hits comes from directory surfing and not keyword searching via the ODP itself. I've heard the figure is around 85% of the traffic on Dmoz is category searches.

Sites where people do keyword searching on the ODP database (like Lycos/hotbot/altavista) all employ their own algos that differ dramatically from the system used at the main Dmoz site.
I'd leave everything alone and promote, promote, promote.

Or one of my favorite biz phrases of all time, "Early to bed, early to rise, work like hell, and advertise, advertise, advertise!"
