Search engine optimization has evolved in the past few months, and if you are sticking with concepts of Page Rank and Alexa Traffic then you would be disappointed.

As far as SEO Optimization is concerned, you can have 100 different websites hosted on same server and sharing same I.P. However there are certain requirements as given below:-

a) Content should be unique on 100 domains.
b) It should be quality content
c) There should be no SPAM ( internal or external).
d) Websites should have good back links.

If you follow these basic steps, you can end up securing top rankings for 100 websites. However, in todays world nobody has time to create content for 100 different websites. Therefore most of the websites pick up content from other websites and this is reason why they end up getting penalized.

Along with this bad back linking policies just add fuel to the fire.
