worth paying SO much for?

Well, if you're looking at laptops (which I use almost exclusively), it's not that much more. I had a friend just starting college looking for a laptop, and he decided to get a Mac after checking prices on comparable PC laptops... with the educational pricing, the Mac was dead even on price. (Without the student discount, it's only a small difference.)
