I was all MS all the way, saying Apple had inferior products, high prices, and were behind technically. I was correct through around 2003. Then they got onto Intel CPU and made OS X. Then they made iPods which completely changed the world of digital media. Then they made iPhone which completely changed and is changing the world of cell phones. Then they made iPad, which is now changing the world of computing (again).
None is perfect, none is cheap, and none is what everybody needs. But they are pushing our boundaries in the same way that innovators like Google and Facebook are, and the fact that my 85 year-old Mom couldn't use a PC after years of training, but was using the iPad after 10 minutes, and that my 13 year old son craves i<whatever> because it's what his friends have and think is great suggests that Apple may have found something that people want.
I think the only question is whether they can maintain their market share over time.
