Well, that kills any desire I might have had to own an iPhone.

I got a call about this today from someone who seldom gives a rip. Your reaction was the same as theirs. This is such a weird idea it is either genius or foolish.

Stepping back, everyone is trying to "take over" or be the "big player" in media, while the technology is moving the opposite direction. I think Apple sees this and is trying different things to position itself to "be there" for "everyone" via mobile. I might be wrong, but I don't think the new opportunities in mobile mean there is a new opportunity to create another Google.
