Sales and marketing has nothing to do with technical superiority and quality. It's betamax all over. With 520 million in the bank that doesn't buy you the type of publicity Apple can get just by announcing a press conference three days in advance. Guys like me (totally not affiliated with Palm) do the best we can too.
It's just a better mobile OS and no one questions that, not TechCrunch, not Engadget, not PC World, not Popular Mechanics, not CNet, not Gizmodo, not the NYT, not even Wired. All agree. webOS is the best mobile OS out there.
It took decades before Apple realized people needed a second button on their mouse. Stubborn as usual instead of really thinking about users' needs. Using the excuse that regular folks don't need something is not reason enough not to provide a feature they will use if given the opportunity. And as recent events have proven Apple doesn't stop features and tools from happening because it cares about users' experience - coff - Flash - coff. Apple picks what is in Apple's interest first.
Meanwhile, no one that has used a webOS device has ever argued that they would not like to have multitasking anymore. Again, Verizon advertised this phone to moms and the Oprah crowd. The Pixi is aimed at teenagers and young women, that's hardly a geeky crowd.
