Well, you don't get unlimited hits. But consider two scenarios

1. your pages with headers and everything are 1KB. With 8GB you get 8MB of hits.

2. Assume that your pages are movies that take up 4GB. Now you get two hits per month.

Some hosts may give you 8GB, but limit you to 100,000 hits because there is overhead to each request. I've never *heard* of a host that does that, but some might. What your host is saying is that they only measure bandwidth, not hits. As long as you stay under your 8GB, you get as many as you want. In all probability, if you get more than 8GB of hits, they have a surcharge. Your server shouldn't go down. 8GB is pretty good for a small site though, so I don't think you should worry or care unless you're serving up sizeable download files.
