I use LAPP

Linux, Apache, Postgres, Python

On occasion I use the other LAMP

Linux, Apache, MySql, Python

My preference is LAPP.

Windows Vs Linux... for webservers I find that Linux is more reliable as far as uptime goes. Windows introduces a lot of bloat when it comes to acting as a webserver and can be slower under high load as a result........HOWEVER, IF you have a really good server admin then you and your audience may not even notice a difference between 'doz and 'nix other than the tools you can use for development.
