There are a few exceptions to this self-imposed rule. Some hosting plans have clear and simple tools and instructions in place to install an SSL cert and if you can access those, you might be able to get through it. But this is vendor specific, just as installing a cert is specific to the O.S. Someone will be along shortly to offer more advice than that, but that's what I'd do.
Welcome aboard sapphiremb99, I've been doing site programming and development for 13 years and I won't touch cert installs. This is the area of system administrators, and this is my advice to you, to get someone who knows this area to do it. It's not the work of a designer/developer. It's also a stretch for a client/employer to expect a designer to have this knowledge.
