When I first create flash text, the default target frame is empty (instead of _blank or _parent or _self or _top). Which is fine. But every time I go to edit the flash text (e.g., change the font size), suddenly, and even before I edit anything, it changes the default setting of the target frame to _self. Which creates a new link to the text. I don't want that.

Why does it do that?! And how do you change the settings to stop it?
