monkeythumpa, the problem is that i'm working on local HTML files, with remote images. So the HTML file is saved on my desktop, and then the images are referenced absolutely like this:

<img src="http://www.example.com/images/client/blah.jpg">

I work on tons of images each day, so saving an additional local copy isn't really an option, which I think is the only way creating a site with a default images directory would help. If I missed something in your post, definitely let me know...

jonrichd, thanks for the heads up. Pending other solutions, I'll be checking out DW8 this week, and convincing my boss to spring for an upgrade...
