---- Dreamweaver and Absolute Image References

This has been mentioned before, but I've never seen a solution. When images are referenced absolutely, Dreamweaver MX 2004 can't display them in "design view".

I am forced to work with absolutely referenced images all day, every day, and having to guess which image is which is a pain. Does anyone have a hack to get around this? Doing a global search/replace works, but it's a waste of time, especially when I have to do it twice for each file I work on, first to get them all locally referenced, and then to change them all back to absolute references. When you add in the time it takes to copy all the images to a temporary directory, it just seems really wasteful.

If there isn't a solution for MX 2004, maybe someone can tell me if Dreamweaver 8 has this same issue? I might be able to convince my boss to spring for an upgrade if I knew for sure this was fixed.

I would have just replied to this, but it's closed:
