In my case, I video call exclusively with my mother with Alzheimer's. You can't really have a voice-only conversation with her at this point.

I expect there are all sorts of scenarios and as technology improves, quality video will be a more and more important part of a call - you can see someone's facial expression which gets rid of lots and lots of miscommunication.
