If Microsoft tried to pull half the nonsense Apple has in the past year there would be an out and out consumer revolt. But since Apple is seen as the "good guys" they can get away with it.

Any other computer product sold is expected to work properly and people would demand to be able to run any software they wished(Flash, non-Apple apps, etc). But for some reason Apple just gets a pass.
