Going by previous annual releases, this time next year there will probably be the i-Phone 5 on the near horizon, or recently in the shops.

Seriously. Beyond recommending using a case, how exactly would Apple be able to 'fix' the two million items already sold. There's no way to recall the lot and rebuild each one into a new shell. It would take an army of people months to do that.
