There is a valid point to consider whether the trend is sustainable, but I think only next quarters numbers will answer that.
... drastically reduced pricing, and aggressive buy-one-get-one-free offers from wireless providers create a false sense of success. Imagine how the stats might compare if AT&T started offering the iPhone 3GS for $50 with a buy-one-get-one-free incentive.
AT&T and Apple would be free to do so if they wanted. Perhaps they will if they have unsold inventory ahead of the 4G launch.
Perhaps certain discounts may not be sustainable. But they are part of the game. As are the moves by At&T to make sure their Android phones are inferior to the IPhone.
