If you're dead set on paying the kid, though, I would: 1. decide on an hourly rate (e.g., $15) Straightforward and completely fair. If you have a maximum amount you want to spend in mind, just figure that into the formula. If the total amount is greater than your maximum, set the price to your maximum.
Depends on the age of the student, but not very much. Content is relatively free (depending on the market of course), especially considering that there are so many people who just want to see their work published - whether online or off.
