Makes me all the more glad I left the UK in the late 80's..Just before Mr Blair and Co ( who's English was and still is also abysmal ) came to the fore.
Doubtless they had the dictionaries there adjusted to invent adverbial forms of words that had never before existed in order to attempt to mask their collective participation in the massacre of the English language.
Between Blair's cabinet and the Beckhams, it would be hard to choose who had more glottal stops and mispronounced more words and mangled more grammar..the legacy ? "Estuary English" ."Chav Speak"..even in the mouths of directors and headmasters and headmistresses of schools..and sad to say, the reporters of the BBC.
Now I'm going to have a "Meldrew moment" and a very late dinner and a glass or three ;-)
