United States government statistics [bls.gov] are Public Domain, while Australian government statistics [abs.gov.au] are Copyright.
Newspaper articles are copyright.
"Facts" might not be copyright, but it isn't clear - without talking to a lawyer - just exactly what that means or how it applies in any particular situation.
I've never seen something so simple become so clouded and confused!
Copyright law isn't simple.
