---- Script / program for images batch processing

Hi,

This topic must have been discussed many times already, but I'm looking for a -simple to install- program that allows me to resize multiple images in one go.

I've just spend several hours trying to get all kinds of scripts, programs etc. running on my Suse Linux system, but everytime I don't succeed in getting it installed.
Why is it that in 2009 it's still so hard to just download something and installing it by typing one command?
Either the configuration step fails, the make step fails or I'm missing libraries.

It's not my intention to complain here, but yes I am frustrated that even with many years of experience in programming I simply can't install a new program.

Can someone please help me by suggesting what program I can simply download and use?

Thanks,
Bavarian.
