It all depends on what language the scripts are written in, and whether the Windows server has the software installed that can process that scripting language. For scripting languages that are common on an Apache/Linux server such as PHP or Perl, you often need to install the program to process those scripts on a Windows IIS server.

For example, one way to process PHP on a Windows IIS server would be to set up the FastCGI [iis.net] plug-in, which is now officially supported on IIS.NET.
