The old days of installing components manually are pretty much gone. Nowadays people use RPM managers. Each linux distribution will have it's own RPM manager. Figure out which manager your linux distribution uses, and figure out how to run the manager, rather than figuring out how to install the packages individually.

urpmi and yum are some common rpm managers. For my distro installation would be as simple as:
urpmi package-name
