I just wanted to give another thumbs up for Gnumeric. For MS xls files I have been using OpenOffice which does a very good job of rendering MS stuff.

Last time, about a year ago, I checked Gnumeric's rendering of xsl files they looked choppy -- which is a shame because it was so nice to use in all other respects.

I grabbed the latest version when I installed Debian and gave it another run with MS compatibility. It now displays MS format beautifully -- at least on my tests.

Gnumeric loads up in about 1/15 the time of OpenOffice and their functionality seem about equal.
