Actually, there is a FTP front-end for SSH called "sftp". Grab the latest openssh, and it should be in there, at least it is in my Mandrake 8.2's openssh-3.1. It might not be as user-friendly as ncftp, but it uses FTP-like commands. Most importantly, you know that your session is encrypted by some strong cipher :)
