It should not make a difference and does not with smaller sites. With larger sites that I tried it can sometimes make a slight difference. ATW uses the "and" operator by default in the query box and what you are doing is issuing a hard "and". If you issue a query for the URL investigator by typing in www.xyz.com into the search box you can get site information and one of the links actually creates this specific query using the first syntax that you specified.
