Cornwall, when presenting data to a client I'd recommend stripping out the no-referrer data and self-referrers. It adds no useful data to the discussion, and just confuses things. I see nothing shady about this, but you could always title the report "Identifiable External Referrers" or similar. Some logging programs will let you suppress this data before the report is even generated.
