---- Meaning of Java Support

Seconded
"Java Support" is simply that- whether or not the browser reports that it can handle Java applets.
it's really an old school "stat program" stat ( appears in AW stats and most others ) very few sites do use java applets nowadays, and with the security problems for browsers in visiting sites that do and may use them as malware vectors,( just type "java vulnerability" and watch the auto-suggest ;-) many browsers and AVs are now set block java..

I would suggest Browser or OS. I've noticed similar behavior to what you're describing and they tend to be mobile users.

Agree again..mobile phones are much more in the "tire kicker" category than are other larger display port devices..partly because of the awkwardness of negotiating their way through a cart and a checkout on a mobile ( if the cart and or checkout was not designed specifically for a mobile ) ..and also many people will "window shop" on a mobile but want to be sat feeling more safe , in control , less overlooked by others when purchasing , especially if it involves inputting credit card numbers, passwords, codes etc..

One way to get around that is to offer a discount code to them when they visit via mobile, that they can use within a short time frame on another device so as to "incentivise" them into making the purchase later either from their mobile device or from a device with a larger screen..

Systems like Apple's "icloud" make it easier to keep them "on the hook" via such "inducements", as they move from mobile phone small screen to ipad or laptop or desktop..
