We have tried to search for this topic on WebmasterWorld and elsewhere, but cannot find the specifics.
We keep tabs on our site and our competitors on a number of factors. One is site speed.
We used to get this information from Alexa. For the last few months there has been no data at Alexa for Speed, so we are trying to find some more sources to get such data.
We know there are many sites and tools that measure your speed as a one-off test, like Google Page Speed plugins, webpagetest.org, vertain.com etc.
These are either one-off tests (at the time they are run) or aren't 3rd party measurements (relative to our own browsers and internet connection).
We are seeking a third party service that provides the same 'average' like Alexa used to.
ie. Factors might differ like:
- The speed/bandwidth of our internet might be slower/faster when testing one site
- There may be a lot of traffic on a site when doing the test which may skew the results.
Tools like SEM Rush and Majestic SEO don't seem to offer the data either.
Yes we can buy and set up software like Keynote, and have it check every X hours and then get average at end of week for our historical records. But if anyone knows of a source (even if we have to subscribe) that can provide the site speed info, could you please let me know?
