Interesting question! What I know is that a common scheme for sales sites is that every page has one central "call to action" in a colour that stands out. For example, a red-and-black colour scheme page informing about a product group and a small banner in green saying "click here to order product X". From what I have seen, this plays with contrasts rather than specific colours.
