Visually, agreed, they are all extremely "clever" but in terms of graphic design I don't find **some** of the more clever ones to be "good logos." Many of those samples will fall apart on different backgrounds, in black and white implementations, or if reduced in size. Many of them rely on color, tone, or type for impact, and quite small or light type at that. Some rely on horizontal/vertical placement, none of which makes for a "good logo." What's "night golf" going to do on a letterhead?
The food writers one is my absolute favorite, which is not only good as a logo but borders on genius in simplicity. Does all of the above, immediate recognition, "wished I'd have thought of it." :-)
