I must admit, I haven't used "end of article" graphics on my sites... and with scrolling (not possible in mags), I rarely spread a single text article over more than one html page.

But I'd think, due to the similar small size requirments, if you designed an favicon.ico graphic for windows bookmarks, it would be perfect for an "article end" bullet... Then place it (after a <br>) directly below the final line of the text.

Using the favicon.ico graphic would lend a very subtle element of 'coordination' to the site (in the eyes of Win/IE users), and would be recognizable to magazine readers as a regular "end of article" bullet.
