About five years ago there were some schemes attempted to render web colors precisely on upscale sites selling clothing. As I recall, Niemann Marcus or Saks had this for a brief time. The shopper had to go thru a cumbersome calibration routine similar to adjusting a printer.

What is the best way to do color swatches? I just create table cells and try to get the background color about right. Many sites use gifs.

Correct colors are important for apparel, by the way.
