There isn't enough room to produce an internet map in which all of these elements can be combined and still be legible. Some of the islands are quite small, but have densely populated areas meaning too many things in one area. Have any of you ever dealt with this problem? Did you come up with a better solution than separate maps? I hate using keys with hundreds of little dots, numbers and flags all over the place and (personally) always take a pass on them because I have very poor eyesight. A lot of my customers are in the upper age brackets and I am guessing that they too would appreciate a well drawn (clean) and easy to read map. Suggestions or examples would be greatly appreciated as this is a pretty time consuming project so would like to do it right from the get go. Now that I can use the colour combo aids ... they should look terrific!
I am in the process of producing several maps for 4 islands. There will be 4 maps per island. At the moment, the plan is to produce one map showing names and locations of hotels & resorts, one for restaurants & bars, one for beaches and national parks and one for names of villages and major places.
