If you will remember, ever big update started like this. The Google Florida comes to mind. That thing went crazy for several weeks before it settled down, and I got hosed from it. I lost numerous #1 rankings that had made me big $$$ for four years that got obliterated by Florida. I can't even stand to go to that state anymore because of it - lol!

Fortunately the Big Y is not the Big G, so at most we're only talking about a company that doesn't get out of the single digits when it comes to search volume. But I do enjoy some traffic from Yahoo, and I don't want to lose it.

With these new rollouts, I'm guessing they play around with applying different algos until they get just the right mix that they are looking for. Kind of like a chef creating a new recipe. It might taste crappy for the first few attempts.

However, even if they get a better search result than Google - are people ready to change search engines? Doubtful. But you never know... 11 years ago people were saying the same thing about Alta Vista when they were king, and the Big G took them by surprise.
