The pure SERPS are on Alltheweb and Altavista. Y! then takes these and blends a subdomain penalty and promotes YSM! search partner sites to produce the Y! SERPS.

care to elaborate on how you got to know this please?
does this mean that we should target our efforts at alltheweb and altavista and it will be reflected in Y!?
