While I'm a little disappointed with the update in terms of recency of the data (still seems to be several months old based on where my sites are and aren't ranking), I think it's doing OK on relevance for the top 10-15 results of the stuff I've checked. Some of those may be less competitive terms, but I know on MSN a lot of the searches I looked at were clogged up with meaningless spam sites. Yahoo let my sites in but not theirs (a good result in my view, both because I like ranking and because my sites are entirely articles I wrote personally, which is the sort of content that ought to be displayed). Most of the results seemed to be a mix of info sites and big companies that sell related products, which is also the ideal outcome.

Saying "well, it's better than MSN" may not be saying much, but I don't think relevancy is their problem so much as speed.
