I had two links removed almost 8 weeks ago, both from the same site's homepage, each pointing to a different page on my site. Although they no longer appear on the first page on Yahoo when checking backlinks (as they did previously), they do still show up on roughly page 3-4 of 5-7 total.

I've gone back and checked the site for hidden links -- thinking they may not have been completely removed -- all clear. Spider simulators likewise cannot find the links. However, the they are still included in the source code as comments. This is the only instance of the links I can find in the source code.

Is there any possibility that this could still be counted as a backlink for whatever reason?

Or does Yahoo really just take that long to update their list?

Or is there another possible explanation I'm not considering here?
