I'm UK based. 80% of my business comes from google.co.uk and about 10% each from google.com and the various flavours of yahoo. This suggests to me that users DO understand that xyz.com is different from xyz.co.uk and when we go to yahoo.com we do so because we want to. Geotargeting is a bad, bad move IMO and is somewhat insulting to users too.
